“We Fight Cyber Crime!”

What is CyberCrime?

CyberCrime, also known as e-crime or hi-tech crimes, includes any type of illegal activity that involves computers or networks as a tool, a target or a place of criminal activity.  Although the term CyberCrime is usually restricted to describing criminal activity in which the computer or network is an essential part of the crime, this term is also used to include traditional crimes in which computers or networks are used to enable an illicit activity.

Some examples of CyberCrime are child pornography, copyright infringement, cyberstalking, data interference, denial of service attacks, e-mail forgery, e-impersonation, espionage, forgery, fraud, hacking, hacktivism, harassment, identity theft, illegal/unauthorized access, illegal interception, information warfare, malicious code, on-line gambling, phishing, sabotaging computers/networks, spamming, theft and unauthorized use of trade secrets.

CyberCrime has been a problem for many years and is becoming increasingly more common.  You can become a victim of CyberCrime without even knowing it, even if you have safety precautions in place on your computer or network, such as a firewall, virus protection, spyware and others.
